“Downtown Dialogue,” set for Tuesday evening, March 31, 7:00 pm in the fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church on Main Street.  “This will be an open public meeting,” says Rebecca Tipton, President of the Main Street Board of Directors, “to allow individuals from the community to offer suggestions of what they might like to see in the coming years in the downtown area and to ask questions about current projects in the downtown. Everyone is welcome to come and bring their suggestions.” Kathy Knight, economic restructuring, announces that because of the interest in four main areas currently in the downtown there will be a panel of individuals presenting brief remarks about their specific area of expertise. Charles Brooks, area director of the Greeneville area’s office of the Rural Development Agency, will speak about the Capitol Theatre building, which is currently owned by the U. S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Agency.  Randy Harrell of the Greene County Partnership will speak about economic development; Bob Cantler will talk about Rediscover Greeneville; and Drucilla Miller and Dr. Wade McKamey will talk about the plans for Walters State Community College in downtown Greeneville. Brian Cutshall will serve as moderator of the panel, and a question and answer period will follow. Anyone in the audience will be given an opportunity to ask questions from panel members and to offer suggestions of things they might like to see accomplished in the next few years. Jann Mirkov, Executive Director of Main Street will welcome guests and give a brief synopsis of the Main Street program. Mirkov encourages everyone in the community with an interest in downtown to attend the forum. She concluded her remarks by saying, “This is your opportunity to tell us your thoughts and what you want to see done in downtown. Our mission, in part, is to help establish a partnership between the public and private sector so join us at ‘Downtown Dialogue’ to do just that.” Anyone wanting more information may call the Main Street office at 423-639-7102 or e-mail the Executive Director at director@mainstreetgreeneville.com subject: Downtown Dialogue.
